San Diego has always been a home to Naval and Air defense forces. With Camp Pendleton bordering the north side of the city, and Mexico bordering the south, the city of San Diego is home to an impressive array of military presence throughout history. Come join this special tour honoring the men and women who serve, and learn about San Diego’s proud military past & present.
From the recently renovated barracks at Liberty Station, take the somber ride to the Cabrillo National Monument (entrance fee included). Along the way, we pass through Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery, the final resting place of 110,000 service men and women with sweeping views of both the San Diego Harbor as well as the open Pacific. The tour continues to Waterfront Park and Embarcadero, home of the Maritime Museum. Here you have the opportunity to see numerous ships from different centuries, as well as modern U.S. and Soviet submarines. The tour concludes at the iconic "Embracing Peace" statue, next to the massive aircraft carrier, the USS Midway - the largest museum of its kind in the world, where you can easily spend a whole afternoon. It is also an option to end at Balboa Park where guests have the chance to explore numerous gardens and museums such as the Air and Space Museum and the Veterans’ Museum and Memorial Center.
